Why You Need To Self Host Your Artist Site?

Update: BandWPThemes is now live. You can grab the Indie version for $27 and the Platinum version for $37. Learn more here.

Yesterday we shared a video that went over all the questions and comments on WordPress that many musicians have. Today as we continue launch week for BandWPThemes, Brett and I shot a video explaining the benefits of self hosting your site vs. relying on Myspace or Facebook to be your home base.

Enjoy the video and hopefully you will have a good idea on why having your own site is one of the most critical things you can do today as an indie musician looking to have a business.

Leave your questions and comments below. We will be getting to everybody.

To get on the early bird list for the BandWPThemes launch, sign up below with your name and email. You will also get a cool PDF with the top WordPress plugins for musicians and marketing.

Tomorrow we will be back with a video on blogging and its importance. Friday we will be unveiling the theme and some details on the BandWPThemes launch!

-Greg and Brett

P.S. This week we are talking about WordPress, blogging and BandWPThemes. All the excitement gets extra crazy on Monday, June 7th when we launch BandWPThemes. After the launch we will be back to our regular music marketing mischief.

Couldn’t agree more about hosting your own site.

I’ve seen so many artists who go as far as getting a decent domain name but it still points to myspace?

Any other piece of virtual real estate which hosts your presence is under someone else’s control. By all means use them but ultimately develop a permission based direct relationship with your audience to partner with them, not just sell them stuff.

    Cheers – Andy
