It's amazing how much social media and the internets in general have changed the music business in the past decade. Smart phone Apps (iPhone Apps/Android Apps) have the potential to seriously change the way bands and music artists interact with their fans. Video streaming services like Ustream will be just one feature of a whole product that significantly breaks down the barriers between bands and their fans. No doubt -we try to be the great equalizer. The little guys can't afford to pay an indie developer to create something as professional looking as the Sound Around guys do, so this really puts professional apps in peoples hands as GarageBand did for music making. Plus it seems like it's quite flexible so doesn't need to be used JUST for bands. I'd like to use it for my upcoming movie. Couple this app with some sort of Ustream integration and you could really do so much for your fans. Tools like this really break down the barriers between the big boys and the little guys.
