GYRS Partners With AGL Brand Clothing

agl-picI’ve hinted to it in a few posts, but today I wanted to make it official. First let’s talk back story.

As a frontman in StumpP and doing my own thing for almost 10 years, I always wanted a clothing sponsor. Who wouldn’t want to rock some fly gear and get cool packages in the mail all the time?

I mean look at Rob Dyrdek. He’s always rocking DC tees and shoes, and now his own stuff with DTA and Young and Reckless. Doesn’t seem like a bad deal, right?

Well it never happened while I was on the performing side.

Now that I have been establishing my brand as a young go getter in the new music business, as well as launching my own products, speaking all over the country and working with a ton of young startups and professionals, I felt I had a good base to reach and connect with people again. Plus I love putting my face all over everything I do.

So I started looking for some companies that stood out to me and had the fly gear. It had to be both. Locally here there was a beach/extreme sport clothing line that I offered to take a stake in and I’m really glad that fell through. The designs were tight, but the company was in shambles from the get-go.

I checked out a few others and nothing really struck me as something I wanted to take the effort to pursue. In comes Arielle from GenJuice. We had connected a few times through the blogging and young entrepreneurship scene and she just happened to Tweet that she was working with some clothing companies. I hit her up and let her know what I was looking for.

To make this long ass story short, I met Charlie from AGL, sent over a proposal and blamo! now I get to rock the fly gear and keep spreading the positive message of the company.

AGL Brand is a young clothing company from the Los Angeles area that is all about the “positive lifestyle” and making the choices in life that really define who you are. In a recent press release Charlie noted:

“AGL was built on the belief that we can choose a different path, one built on creativity and resourcefulness. When resources were limited, we created them; when unexpected barriers came up, positivity kicked in; when our peers said we couldn’t do it, we continued to climb. We are very proud of AGL and look forward to continued success.”

So I wanted to say a big thanks to those guys (Charlie, Damone and JayL) and also a big look into the future. The partnership goes way beyond rocking tees in the videos and throwing up some banners. I am working to help enhance their online profile, writing for their blog and working on a big event that will echo the “Latter Lifestyle” and combine young entrepreneurs, musicians and other creatives to come together and make something positive happen in their life and in the lives of others.

Here are some snaps from a recent photo shoot:

Charlie and company also rocked an end of the year fashion show at UC-Berkeley and it was off the chain. See some video here:

Here are 2 posts that I knocked out so far on the Latter Lifestyle:

I encourage you guys to check them out and if you like the ideas and the gear, support them by picking up a tee or a crew.

I also wanted to post this here to show you that even friggin bloggers and internet marketers can get sponsors. It is possible if you have value to offer. Don’t just expect to get free gear. Come into the situation with something that you can provide for the brand. It’s not a take situation. It needs to be a win-win. Look for companies that have similar values to yours. Same vision, style, etc. It may take longer than expected, but it’s damn sure worth it.

Cheers towards choosing the latter – Latter Lifestyle!
