Music Marketing In Your Local Community

In the music marketing in 2010 post from a few days back, I mentioned in one of the keep it simple points to focus on networking. Today I shot a quick video that walks through 3 steps to marketing and networking in your local community. Enjoy.

As a quick wrap up, the 3 strategies mentioned include:

Twitter and Local Twitter Search – Get local. Use Twitter Search to find people in your community and start to organize small events, called Tweetups, with local bloggers, techies and other influential people that have a strong presence online.

Meetup – This is a great service where you can join or host your own meetup. Start a meetup of your own from Guitar Rockers to Vinyl Lovers and anything in between. Also look for meetups where there are people that may be able to help your career.

Local papers and entertainment weekly’s – Grab some copies of your local entertainment guide or weekly paper and start looking at the companies that are advertising. These are the companies already spending money to get more business. Start networking with them. Invite them to things like your Tweetup or Meetup and build relationships with these local business. Then start to see how they can play a part in your music promotion.
