What is the Point of Your Splash Page?

flash-intro

So the late 90′s and Adobe’s exploration into Flash birthed this crazy concept that design was more important than the content on your web page. Flash web designers will still argue this point home when trying to charge you huge rates for rather insufficient sites.

These sites typically came with a splash page, intro or some kind of graphic that was required viewing before your fans were granted access to your site. I hope you know these, and unfortunately I am sure many of you still have them on your sites, causing browsers to move slowy and visitors to click away quickly.

Here is the thing (beyond the slowness and annoying autoplay graphics)…

There is no point!

There is no reason for this flash interruption. The purpose of your website is to get information to your fans as quickly as possible and create relationships with them so that they buy your music, come to your shows and tell their friends they are missing out!

You can do this by skipping the intro page and landing your fans on the content as quickly as possible or by having a splash page that acts more like a “squeeze page.”

What’s a squeeze page you ask?

Essentially it is a landing page that “squeezes” contact information out of someone in exchange for something that they want. In your case – MUSIC!

Tonight we are going to be launching a video explaining squeeze pages and how you can use them efficiently to build your mailing list, promote your music and build relationships with your fans. We also have some really cool bonus materials from a musician who is using squeeze pages to give away thousands of free downloads every month and in turn selling more albums, getting more fans in his seats and making a living in the middle class of the music business. You don’t want to miss the bonuses coming tonight, it is sure to jump start your music marketing with only a fraction of action.

Hold tight and get ready to learn an Internet Marketing Secret that musicians have no idea even exists.  Put it into action and you will be amazed at the results.

Stay tuned and subscribe to our RSS Feed to get instant notification of the video so you can start implementing the “squeeze page” technique tonight.
