Music Marketing is NOT Billboard Marketing

Recently I have seen a plethora of what I am going to call “sign-twirlers” (one of them hawking tax services is pictured below).

The main problem that I see with these sign twirlers is that the companies behind these “sign twirlers” do not have a purpose in having the signs, other than giving a few guys a crappy job in the hot sun holding a big crappy sign. This problem results from not having a call to action, a goal and a way of measuring results, but most noticeably NOT giving drivers a reason to pull over and buy.

When you are marketing your music, give your fans or web browsers a reason to stop in and buy, join your mailing list or come to your show. Do NOT be a billboard or a sign that just gets passed by

I hope you enjoy the video and had a happy Easter weekend!

(P.S. be sure to sign up to the mailing list and get a bunch of free stuff as well as early access to some really cool stuff coming soon!)

Hey Greg, really liked your video contrasting music and billboard marketing. Great practical, common visual to put with a concept that most musicians miss. Hope you don’t mind I reblogged it on my tumblr: http://naclaq.tumblr.com/post/101289899/internoise

    Cheers!

We make tons of stickers for our band and slap them everywhere. A good place to get them for low prices is stickerjunkie dot com.
