Back on track this week with the Friday Music Marketing Links segment. There are a few gems in this bunch and I have highlighted them below.
The biggest conversation starter from the past few weeks has been that of digital distribution and the free model of business that is, depending on your personal views, either helping or hurting the music 2.0 bubble that is currently getting very, very large.
Here are 3 points of view:
- WaTunes interview – Get on iTunes for Free – Gen-Y Rock Stars
- The Problem with Free – Kevin Breuner
- iMeem needs a new revenue model – Hypebot
Other Music Marketing Links for the week:
- P Diddy on uStream – Mashable
- Interview with Kim Garrison – Cool Hunting
- Lars Ulrich on Twitter, Secret Shows and Digital Downloading – Wired Listening Post
- 10 Highly Effective Ways to Market Like an Asshole – Justin Boland from Audible Hype
- Google’s Music Strategy – The Music Void
- FanDom interview series with Nancy Bayam -Â Hypebot
- Hypebot Interview’s Matador Records about blog traffic, increasing sales and growing fans - Hypebot
Next week we will be taking this segment live, in a Diggnation style video cast. The purpose is to give a thorough rundown of what some of the week’s news means for you as an indie band. Hopefully it will help you understand some of the moves, concepts and music marketing ideas that are being used by other bands, artists, groups, labels and agencies.
Till next week Rock Stars!
